Race foam, no plate

Asics Megablast

Asics took the Superblast idea and made the whole midsole out of its bounciest foam. Big stack, no plate, and light enough that nothing in the rotation is safe.

Where the Superblast layers a superfoam over a firmer carrier, the Megablast is one slab of FF Turbo Squared from heel to toe. Asics reckons that foam is about a third bouncier and a tenth softer than the FF Turbo Plus it races in, which is how 45/37mm of stack still weighs 230g. No plate, an 8mm drop, and a rockered sole with AsicsGrip under the forefoot doing the steering instead.

One foam, all the way through

  1. Primary foam

    FF Turbo Squared

    ATPU, aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane

Asics claims FF Turbo Squared is 32.5 percent bouncier, 9.6 percent softer and 2.8 percent lighter than FF Turbo.
